Massanutten Trout Unlimited

Massanutten Trout Unlimited (MTU) is a chapter of Trout Unlimited based in the city of Harrisonburg, VA, and Rockingham County, VA.  We are a 501 (c) 3 organization. MTU is a diverse group of men and women whose mission is to conserve, protect and restore cold-water fisheries and their watersheds.

We organize and participate in conservation projects, river cleanups, and educational projects and work with disabled vets.  Some of our efforts are as follows:

  • Embrace-A-Stream projects on Beaver Creek, located in western Rockingham County, for improvements to trout habitat.
  • Local stream cleanup days.
  • Trout in the Classroom (TIC) education program to help young students get a chance to connect to our local streams to learn how to become stewards of the environment.  Click HERE for more information on TIC
  • Working with Disabled Vets by teaching them how to flyfish and relax through our annual Beaver Creek Invitational (BCI) flyfishing event. For more information on the BCI, click HERE.
  • We have various programs throughout the year with special guest speakers for flyfishing and conservation-related topics. These programs are announced via social media such as Facebook and Instagram.
  • Annual Christmas party in December and picnic in the fall
  • Fun events include the F3T film festival fundraiser and the Iron Fly Tying contest.
